Life has the tendency to side track us, keep us busy, or even devastate us. The more time I spend with my 85 year old friend, Lenny, I am reminded of this. This is a man who lived through it all, the Great Depression, loss of loved ones over the years, and now he watches the news papers for names he may recognize in the obituaries.

“What is it all for?” We both have asked each other, which has become an on going discussion between the two of us. I think at first I couldn’t wrap my mind around it, and neither could he, but as we get deeper and deeper in our discussion, I think we have both begun to see some light.

The Lord Our Father, the creator of the Universe, and Author of all our life stories has never promised a happy life here on earth.

He has promised:

1.) To have glory in it all.

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV

2.) To be with us always:

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lordyour God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV

3.) That our ending is a happy one:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJV

and many more but these are a few.

I am convinced that it is our life long mission to keep our eyes on Jesus Christ, and to wrap ourselves in His righteousness. For we are but dirt that has been breathed into by God so that we can have life. We have nothing we can offer nor anything we can cling too, here on earth.

All is Gods folks. All we can do is keep our eyes on God, do our part which is glorify Him in all things. I used to think if I was good and followed the rules things would go my way. I used to think anything I asked in faith I would get.

I now have come to know that God is in charge of it all. If the enemy steals, kills or destroys, God knows it, He is there working it all for His glory. It is too much for our human minds to conceive, but I have come to believe with much fear and trembling that Gods plans are more important than my own.

I can trust that I will experience loss, heart ache, devastation, trials that feel too hard for me, but I can also trust the Lord God that I believe in, the one who did not spare His son from suffering and death for my sake, but the one who did send His son while I was still a sinner to save me, that He wrote for all those who believe a happy ending.

Be encouraged friends even in the most desperate times. This earth is not our home. WE will suffer here, but we can have peace that surpasses understanding, and freedom that others question when we keep our eyes on the God who is writing our story.

Keep praying on your knees, keep reading the word of God, keep praising Him. I love all your faces!
